Latest Updates from Our Project:

Finished art and finishing lines
over 3 years ago – Thu, Aug 06, 2020 at 10:47:40 PM

Down to about 15 hours left in the KickStarter campaign. The show of support has been fantastic. I can readily speak for all of us here when I say we can't wait to get this printed and in your hands! This is just step one in the journey. Not just for this project specifically, but for the Endless Machine saga. And for Democritus Brand and his band of cohorts.

It would be amazing to have this project get a final push and breaking the $20,000 mark. And once the project concludes we will be doing a pledge manager to facilitate adding things on like the Passage in Black softcover trade and the Bunn old fashioned glass. I haven't talked to Cullen about it yet, but we should start a tradition once those are delivered. Have a specific day and time every week where drinks are poured and a virtual toast is made as our glasses are raised collectively. (Cullen will do it, I'm sure I can twist his arm into having a special drink in celebration with everyone here!)

Look forward to seeing how things wrap up tomorrow. Until then...

Just four days left! Let's make one big push for that $20,000 stretch goal! Tell all your friends about the project! Tell your family! Tell your most hated enemies! Thank you so much for all the support! Let's finish this STRONG!

Little Shop of Comics (in Cuba) exclusive variant
almost 4 years ago – Fri, Jul 31, 2020 at 10:10:38 PM

We have crossed a major achievement threshold. 500 active backers! Cullen and I have said many times (to each other and those around us) that we are thrilled and amazed at the support and positive feedback we have gotten for this project. But we haven't said it enough to you. So here we are saying it again.

My post here today is going to highlight a piece of art that is being done as a cover for an exclusive for my store. Cullen and I have discussed the nature of this and while it won't be an order option directly on the KS page, it will be available as an add on in the pledge manager. The cover is by Ian Chase Nichols and this is just the preliminary sketch for it.  He will be doing a cover for every issue for my shop. And they are going to be a connecting image. Which I am thrilled with.  The general connecting fabric is in place, but the details of the future issue covers still need to be worked out. Rest assured we will show off images when they become available.

Stretch Goals!
almost 4 years ago – Fri, Jul 31, 2020 at 04:48:23 PM

Just over a week left in the campaign, and we have posted our stretch goals for the project! Some of them, we've already achieved! Now, Jimmy had a crazy idea, as you'll see below. Jimmy is good at coming up with crazy ideas. I hope we can see this happen! Here's a look at the goals. Now might be a great time to adjust your pledge level to a higher level so we can more quickly attain these awesome enhancements!

As we reach these thresholds, backers at all PHYSICAL LEVELS will receive:

$10,000 - Exclusive Sticker (UNLOCKED!)

$12,500 - Exclusive Sticker 2 (UNLOCKED!)

$15,000 - Behind-the-Scenes Content Added to Issue 1 (LOCKED)

$20,000 - This one is a crazy one! We will print a new 1-page comic book story on the backer board for Issue 1 (LOCKED)

$25,000 - More insanity! We will print a new 1-page comic book story on the backer board for Issue 2 (LOCKED)

Cullen had been doing all the updates here, but I wanted to jump in and help out where I can. And rambling is something I am very good at. So join me for a little ramble if you will.

Words and I have been closely acquainted now for a really long time. I didn't always put them down on paper though and had many false starts in life with regards to writing. Cullen does it right (matter of fact I have a shirt saying almost that exact thing, although I am not wearing it today.) Writing is a passion, but it is also a job. In order to make a splash in the world and be remembered you need to approach it from both angles. Over the last 30 years I have had passion for writing but lacked the ability to approach it as a job. There are tales I have been working on for decades.

Democritus Brand isn't exactly one that has been being worked on for that long. The specifics of the story we have been tossing around and shifting and tweaking for probably about 5 years. But in many ways every piece of writing I have done builds and influences this work. It is the nature of writing and growing as an artist.

This KickStarter project is growing as well. We may be getting close to the end of the campaign here, but that doesn't even remotely mean we are close to being done. I want to let you all know that there are still some fantastic things to come. We do have some Stretch Goals that need to be updated. Some that I am incredibly excited to post about. And there will be a few add on items that I am sure will get the adrenaline pumping when you see them.  Keep an eye out for the next updates coming your way soon!

I kinda want to sit here and keep writing, but it is 10pm on a Tuesday night and I have new comics stacked up waiting to be put on a shelf at my comic shop.

Thanks for being here and helping to make this possible.
